Empower Family Children's Home receives 'Good' rating in all areas from Ofsted

A Somerset Children’s Home, led by the Empower Family Group, has been rated “Good” in all areas by Ofsted, following their inspection.

The two-day inspection, which took place in June 2023, involved Ofsted inspectors visiting and reporting on the quality of care the home and care team provides for children with learning disabilities and emotional behaviour difficulties.

The inspector awarded a ‘Good’ rating in the three key areas of; overall experiences and progress of children and young people, how well children and young people are helped and protected and the effectiveness of leaders and managers.

The inspection report published today (11 July 2023) notes that staff at the home value children as individuals and have built positive and trusting relationships with them.

The report detailed that: "Children's views are valued. Staff invest time with them to help them, express their views, wishes and feelings which inform care planning. The leaders and managers are driving forward consistent and improved care in the home."

The report continued to say that “The home manager is passionate about their role and the home is delivering care that is informed by research in an environment which provides a homely feel for children. Children are proud of their bedrooms, which have been decorated in line with their views and interests. A warm and friendly home atmosphere has been developed."

Simon Morton, Empower’s Responsible Individual, said "I am delighted to read the recognition from Ofsted which celebrates how well our young people, and team are progressing. It is wonderful to see how well cared for, happy, and heard our children feel. We are extremely pleased and proud of the whole team at the home. The effort, dedication and love they have shown to our young people is wonderful.”
